Personally, I have no issue with the firmness of my Danny Gray (put them on my last 2 bikes); an option is add "gel" to the seat as well.
Danny Gray seats are WAY less firm than Corbin's, but that is just my opinion.
no, it's true. the epa (?) won't let corbin use the glue that they used to use to bond the leather to the foam so now it's stitched to hold it in place. its a shame really, the smooth leather seat was always a classic look, imo.
Really? Well that explains the issue I'm having with them.
I ordered the Dual Tour, and asked for no stitching. They sent me one with the stupid "tuck and roll" stitching, plus the seat had creases and wrinkles. So far, it's been back twice for repair, and it still has the stitching and some wrinkles. All I want is for the seat to look nice and smooth and tight, like my Stinger seat from my old Yamaha looked like.
They finally offered to send me one without any stitching, but said they can't guarantee it won't wrinkle. Before I read this post, it made no sense to me, but if the reason is because they can't glue the seating panels to the foam, it makes sense. They should have just told me that was the reason in the first place.
why can't they just find another type of glue?
Is it like no one can glue leather or vinyl to foam anymore? sounds weird to me...
yeah, me too. just relaying the info that a member from another site posted that he got direct from corbin. he had ordered his seat 'plain' and corbin took it upon themselves to pick some stitching for him. needless to say, he isn't a happy camper.

The VOC (volatile organic compound) content is the problem. The government has been reducing allowable VOC content for years with the intent of eliminating them completely. We're struggling with it in architecture as well, it's hard to find adhesives with low/ no VOC content that still stick. I know of a project in which an entire bamboo floor had to be ripped out because the low VOC mastic didn't stick. Pretty ironic that an entire "green" floor had to be ripped out and thrown in the trash!

Thats California for ya!!!!
Absolutely! CA leads the way in EPA restrictions! Usually the restrictions start in CA and then start spreading across the country.
Like I said, that's makes perfect sense why they won't give me a stichless seat as well. Never got around to calling them today, but I will tomorrow to see what they are offering me. I'll confirm this glue issue, but I'm sure that's why.
So how do other seat makers get around the glue thing? You can get a C&C, Le Pera, or Mustang without stitching. C&C and I believe Le Pera are in Cali as well.
