Welcome to the forum. If you are happy with the deal that's all that counts. Now go out & ride and enjoy your nice looking bike.

I'd say so. I bought my 2000 EGC last August for 8k. Only had 36k on the clock and came with tons of extra parts, all the manuals and instructions for all the stuff the previous owner did. Enjoy the ride!

The mileage is insanely low, so yeah I'd say you got a nice deal. Part of the reason the price was that low is because it's an '06, they went from the 88 to 96 motor in 07 and also went from the 5 speed to the 6 speed. Those are big selling points for a lot of buyers, so there are some good deals to be had out there on pre-07's. Congrats and have fun with it!

Looks good, I'd say as long as you're happy, then you did just fine! : )

Thanks guys,, i have no plans on upgrading the motor, i will a few other things and you'll see my questions as i go. The guy bought it from someone with 700 miles on it and the guy owns his own business and family so no time to ride, thats why the miles were low. I wanted a full tourer, my wish list was cruise, heated seat and grips but i can make do without them. I will be doing cruise at some point. Yes 96 and 6 speed would have been nice also, but i'm coming off my badass VTX1800 so i'm trying to slow my roll down a bit. Are there any concerns i should be thinking about?
Thanks guys

Those 88's are pretty bulletproof. We had 'em on our police Road Kings for years and had very few issues with them. We still have some '05's in service in my unit, and they run great. I've heard that the cam chain tensioners should be checked after 25-30,000 miles for wear/replacement. Beyond that you have a great motor and trans. Our police bikes had the HD dino oil every 3K miles, and got a LOT of hard use and hot idle time. Go with a good synthetic and consider Redline shockproof for the trans. Be meticulous with the maintenance and you should have a lot of reliable miles ahead of you.

I always felt that our stock Road Kings ran damn good, and I used 100% of what they could deliver. It was more than adequate for police service. I don't think anyone will argue with the theory of keeping it stock increases reliability-but there will probably be some posts to the contrary. I just think that you can't go wrong keeping it stock, at least for the time being. The '04 EGU I had was stage I/II, and I had considered "de-tuning" it back to a stock configuration. It ran fantastic a highway speeds over 70 mph, but the trade offs weren't worth it in my book. I ended up trading it in on a '12 RGU, and am glad I didn't waste money taking it down from the engine mods-money I used as adown payment on the new bike!

Heated hand grips will run about $300 for a set of Heat Demons. If you do any amount of riding/touring in the spring and fall, heated hand grips are a must! Your EG can be fitted with the HD cruise control, and the factory cruise is great-you won't do better with any aftermarket unit.

Mike

Great bike, amazing price. But considering the bike is 6 plus years and very lil miles, means she was garage kept, and thats it. Check the seals and gaskets also check the tires for Rot, and the fork fluid as well ..
the bike was ridden at all, so thoae fkuids probably havent been changed in a while
