Well, I've used Don Morris, and I had excellent results. It's a two day drive there and back for me, so I was hoping the other guy was as highly recomended.
Bottom line, the Dynotunes has left a pile of unhappy folks in his wake, not just the ones that spoke up here.
He's always in a hurry and isn't very thorough.
Don Morris on the other hand has a faithful following of repeat users.
Bruce @ Dynotunes.ca is a Master Harley Tech & tunes more bikes than anyone in Canada, period. Knows his stuff!
I had my last Street Glide tuned by him. He was at Grand Bend. A few weeks later, I drove to Burlington and he downloaded some new updated software - no charge. Bike ran great. At the time I was using a Power Commander.
Well tman, Im sure he is one of the best tuners around if you know the guy I even mailed Jamie at fuel moto a month before and asked if he heard of him before i took my bike to him. Jamie said he was one of the best around and I dont blame Jamie one bit because Im sure Bruce is one of the best , again if you know him and are good friends with him. in my case it was a nightmare i just wish I had another 3-4 hundred bucks to spend just to see what kind of a job some one else could do. he spent about 2-3 hours doing a bike I let go ahead of me because the lady was racing on the drag strip and he knew her. I wasnt in a big rush so I said go ahead she was racing that day. He probably had her carb off playing with the jetting at least 5-6 times. did I get that kind of attention, not on your life.
how could you forget to turn the acrs on and even while it was hardly turning over on his dyno you would think he would have checked that. And when i called him up for help i get the classic one liner : what do you expect me to do about it;
1 hr 20 minutes on a dyno 400 bucks, come on at the rate that was posted 150 an hour for 400 bucks i should have gotten 2 and a half hours of dyno time .
ve tables not even changed on the map, obviously no runs and map regeneration was done- hey you know what that would take extra time wouldnt it. when I did smart tune runs I bet at least 30 boxes changed the flow number when the generate new ve map was clicked. i had pinging from 2000-2500 rpm most of the time how did he miss that.
sorry tman I not beating up on your opinion of the guy but based on my experience with a person providing a service to me a paying customer I got ripped off and Ill bet Im not the only one, the only difference is while I am no expert on dynos or the race tune system I know enough to pull the map back out and see what was original on the map used and what was left totally unchanged in my case nothing was changed and no one can tell me that the se map from harley was the end all of adjustments that could be made to suit my motor build, air flows and timing.
Im guessing he figured here is a guy with money to burn he wont know that I could have done more to his bike ,Ill just try a couple of maps make no changes to them pick up a couple of horse power - kill an hour really doing nothing and gouge the hell out of him. if this the kind of service Im gonna get because Im some smoe off the street then it will be the last time he ever sees me again.
all i can say is screw me once with sand in the vaseline and it will never happen again. and I am entitled to my opinion based on what happened to me. again im sure he knows his stuff but he apparently knows how to rip people off too.
Here's the thing. He's got a reputation for rushing things, fine if you've got a simple few mods, and a Power Commander. He likes the Power Commander, cause it's faster and he's been trained on it.
According to Don at Stay Tuned Systems in Mount Hope. The PC isn't as adjustagble.
Don knows the new SERT and he likes it. He takes his time and has a good name with them
The other guy doesn't even want to use them, even though he's got them posted on his web site.
I have a SERT, it would appear as if I'll be driving to Hamilton.
Dynotunes is in the network of authorized Rush dealers. I have referred customers and they were satisfied with the tune and overall experience. We have also sent sales reps with Bruce to events in Canada and they only had good things to say about Dynotunes and Bruce. I understand not everyone can have a positive experience every time but so far I've only received positive feedback from our customers that have been referred there.
