What are some inexpensive mods I can do to get more out of my 96.
Everything stock except for open straight through slip ons that I dont know
the name of,but they are a lil smaller than stock.
Thanks for any ideas guys
Have you done an air cleaner mod yet? ? ?
Air cleaner and slip on mufflers best bang for the money, with a good dyno tune.
Horse power cost money, how much can you afford to spend? ? ?
There a lot of cams out there that cam be slipped in to the engine without pulling it apart.

As said, bang for the buck .......
1) Air cleaner, exhaust and tuned
2) Cams
3) Toss up between head work and big bore kit
Add a free flowing air cleaner, cams, and a tuner. Should add 20-25 hp. Not sure what your idea of inexpensive is but depending on what you can do yourself can make or break mods when it comes to money. I'd say the above would be in the $1500 range - give or take at a shop....
Well speaking for myself I wasn't satisfied until I did:
1.Air Cleaner
2. Pipes
3. Cam
Now I'm happy:
4. Heads
5. BB 103
6. Tuner (went through three of them before I found one I could get the tune I wanted)
I took about 95HP and over 100ft lbs of torque before I said that feels about right.
$500? Not much. Yes you can get slip ons and intake done for that, or even cams, but then a tuner will be needed. Unless you want to tune it yourself you will need a dyno tune. Up your price to $1500 and then you can get the added power.
I would consider inexpensive under 500 but I know what
Hd stands for. Thanks for the ideas. Didnt know a cam was
that easy though. Thanks again
You would have to do the work yourself to change the cam for $500.
.....and then you would still need a tuner of some sort ($300 to $500).
To have a shop do a cam swap (parts, labor and a tuner) it will run you around $1,200 to $1,500.
and that's not a dyno tune (just the tuner) which will be another $400.
It sounds like you have a stock Air Cleaner, which a high flow one is another $150.
