I went on the Steel Toe tour in Milwaukee last summer. It was great. i would go on it instead of the free tour. The Steel Toe you are right on the line as the engines are being made.

I did the Steel Toe Tour in York March 23rd and it had only been going on for about 6 weeks. You do get $5 off on a purchase in the gift shop and your picture taken on the floor. There were only three of us on this tour and a bunch on the regular. I thought it was worth it but I never did the free tour. I think it depends how much information you want to gather and if you want to see more stuff.

I have a reservation to do the "steel toe" tour next Wed. I'll post up after my tour and be candid as to whether or not I felt it was worth $35.00....

Did it last month and felt it was worth it. The do give a discount in Factory store as was said. I found it interesting but definitely call ahead to book your tour. Mine was with 3 others right after they started. When in Maine Eat Lobster... can't go wrong.

Can anyone answer how this new paid tour compares to the free, or how any of these compare to the old standard free tour? They didn't chop anything off the old standard free tour they used to have to put part of it in the paid one did they? The old free one was pretty good. I'm not saying the paid wouldn't be worth it cuz I would love to see even more, but I hope they didn't take away from the free one.

You have to call the tour center to schedule the tour. I called 1-877-883-1450

I think you are referring to the tour that was in the original plant. That building no longer exists. The only tours available now are in the new plant that was originally designated the Softail plant (automated). Presently all bikes manufactured in York come out of that single building.

Seriously?! Wow. I definitely missed something somewhere in the news. I had no idea that was gone. I did that tour for like the 5th time when that new automated building was finished. Did they move that nice showroom and giftshop by the lower lot too.... that other building was further away wasn't it? Or did it wrap around the back. I don't remember cuz it was pretty new.

I can't believe that place is gone. That was a good tour! I'll miss that building. Looks like I'll be heading down and checking this new place out...and I will pay at least once to see as much as I can for the new place. Then maybe just freebies after that..LOL
