Hi , my wife and i just returned from the York steel toe tour , we thought the two hours and the exspense was worth it , we have never taken the free tour , but our guide would tell us every so often, "what we are seeing is only part of the steel toe tour" As others have said make sure the tours are running. As of this week the tours are monday -thursday only .enjoy

+1! The Steel Toe tour takes you up and down the lines instead of just once around the edges like the free tour. They also give you a commemorative pin (if you're into such things) a reflective vest you get to keep, and your receipt for the cost of the tour gets you $5 off in the gift shop, so you get some of the money back. The tour is a solid 2 hours.

We did the free tour in York about 2 months ago and it was a waste of time. Half the stuff we weren't allowed to see because of claimed secrecy for 2013 - 2014 prototypes. The parts we did get to see you couldn't understand because the tour guide talks like he's got a mouth full of marbles. Terrible. Worst factory tour I've ever been on. I got what I paid for I guess...,

I've been to the York plant three times. It's been a while since I did the York tour. My headset wasn't working so I couldn't hear the tour guide. I use to do machin work so I understood most of what I was seeing.

They only had the free tour back then.

On a side note, My wife loves Bar Harbor. We've only been there one time and she wants to go back. Of course she had to get a photo of her standing in front of Stephen King's house.

$35 for a TOUR? LOL! Does the MoCo have our number or what?!! What I'd like to see is registered Harley owners getting the 'deluxe' tour for free. Everyone else pays cash. Yeah, right...LOL...no idea about Bah Hahbah, but I know I'd be loading up on lobster at dinner! Hope it's a great trip.

I took the Steel Toe tour today. I've been riding Harleys since 1978, but have never been to a factory or the museum (that's next).

Personally, I thought it was worth the $35.00. Yeah, it would be cool if it were free to registered Harley owners or something like that, but quite frankly, I've spent more than $35.00 on much less.....

As already mentioned, you get to go up & down isles that the standard tour only sees from the perimeter. You get to see more/ up close and the tour is longer. I found a lot of it fascinating.

One steel toe perk takes you into two places that the standard tour doesn't even see. They are related to the painting and powder coating. Not that great, but interesting.

The other steel toe perk, is that the tour guide will take a pic of your group and you receive a print of the group shot when you leave. There are absolutely no cameras or pics are allowed in the factory. So it is kinda cool to have a pic inside the factory.

In fact, on our tour, when the guide took our pic, a new security guy quickly came over. He started telling him he had to turn in the camera because pics aren't allowed. At first the tour guide thought the guy was joking around, but when it became obvious he wanted to confiscate the camera, the guide had to direct him to the main tour boss to get the word. Phew, I got my pic...

Anyways, I've spilled more than $35.00 on a good night of drinking, so I think it was worth the fee.

Just my 2 cents........
