I have a few questions and I hope this is the right place to ask.
I was wondering about higher RPM riding, on the highway at 70mph my bike is at 3,000 rpm. Is it ok to run that for a while or should I only go short distances and only when I have to? Also sould I get a true dual kit or just make it 2into1 like in the DIY thread? I like the looks of both, my 05 road king has a aftermarket exhaust(not sure brand), open air box with high flow cleaner and a comp reflash.
I have ridden mine at above 4,000rpm for miles on end on German autobahns (honest officer!). With a peak rpm of around 5,500rpm the motor should be happy at 4-4,500rpm all day IMHO.
Bear in mind however that these things have the aerodynamics of a barn door and fuel consumption can get very impressive at higher speeds!
These bikes are designed to run at those RPM's. That's where the torque is, 2800-4500. Of course on the 05's (5 speed) gas mileage takes a hit around 75mph and up.
