Hi Guys & girls, any ideas for curing buffet at high speeds? Everything is fine up to about 65 mph, at faster speeds the air comes off the top of the screen and hits my helmet. around 80 mph (we cruise on motorways in Europe at 80 mph) it is hard to focus or think!
I have the standard size screen fitted - 16 inch I think.
I'm on the worlds best cruiser and being overtaken by BMW's It's galling.
I would say try the Long Ride Shield 21" recurve. They are 40 percent off through Saturday using the discount code hdforums40, so it won't cost you much to try. Very fast and reasonable shipping as well.
Klock Werks Billboard Flare is what fixed it for me. I have the deflectors on the outside of the struts, the between strut deflector, and still had buffeting. I put on the flare, and it is all gone, unless of course, there is a really strong side wind, but nothing will stop that.
Recurve windshield , plus maybe some fork mounted deflectors? Try the hand test, see where if you have buffeting from around the tank as well as over the shield
One of the easiest things I did to help with this is change helmets. I had a half helmet with a visor and would get killed by the buffeting. I got a new helmet without the visor and it made a world of difference. I know the visor is really small but it catches a lot of wind. This didn't completely stop the buffeting but it helped a ton. I have a new LRS 19" on order should be here any day, I'll let you know how that helps.
I like the LRS Windshield 19" works well for me I can see over it easily and I'm 5 10". 16' windshield I can imagine that you are getting beat up by the wind, I have a shorty shield and I only use it for around town otherwise I think it's useless. BTW if you do have a 16 shiels I'm not sure thats standard, maybe on certain models. I think my stock shield was something like 20 and I cut it down to work for me before getting the LRS shield.
