Harley hi viz rainsuit with gaitors, waterproof gloves and though it sounds dorky, I carry some goggles actually two pair, one clear, one tinted. Plus, my helmet has a drop down sunshield if the rain is really bad
+1 on the goggles! I have an old HD Gore-Tex suit, Gore-Tex gloves and waterproof boots. Glasses are always an issue. In 39 years of riding, I've tried a lot of stuff, but just recently I saw a post about someone wearing a swim mask. Not a dive mask, but a swim mask. Much like goggles, but with a silicone face seal. I was out at a store one day and walked through sporting goods, found a pair with a black rim and tried them on. I knew immediately this would work and bought the anti-fog to go with them. Got to try them recently in a serious downpour and I have to say I love them. No fog, none of that "run down" into my eyes behind the lenses, these things are the ****! Yep, I laughed to when I first read the other post, but now I'm sold, sometimes strange things function well in other situations. Oh yeah, rain suit, my HD one is 12 years old and when I ride hours in the rain, not a drop (IF, and a big IF, you take the time to seal up PROPERLY).
I rode 4 weeks ago for 4 days in the rain, 2 of the days were interstate with very heavy rain. I was wearing Danner Acadia uninsulated boots. Only the top two inches in my boots got wet from wicking through the socks. You may have had your boots tied too loose and allowed water in.
Hmm, maybe but the tongue goes dang near to the top. Wouldnt think it would matter if they were a little loose. I cant remember if I mink oiled them either.

Mine were in need of a good polish when I left and had nothing on them at the time. The leather was wet but the inside liner was dry. I dried them out with a fan (no heat) when I got back and polished them up. They were only about 4-5 months old and the 4 days of being wet sure made them comfortable. Guess I should have filled them with water and wore them until dry earlier when I got them.
HaHa, Yeah mine sure broke in alot from getting wet. I was told that growing up. Get a pair of boots, wade in water and wear them dry. Love my Acadias. Bought these dang near new off of Ebay for $50 bucks.
frog toggs. you can pick them up for less than $50 and they have a swap for new warrantee if you check the website. just take back to where you bought them and show them the defect or muffler burn.
full helmet keeps the rain out and you can pick them up at cycle gear for about $50 bucks.
Not doin Frog Toggs for sure. Do not wana deal with cleaning that crap off my mufflers and having to go exchange them after every ride in the rain.
next bet is the harley rain pants with the patch on the right ankle area.
I know what you mean. I forget when I'm caught n the rain with frogg toggs and get frogg crap on heat shield when I have to back into a parking spot. they are my "keep in the saddle bag" back up. If I know I'm gonna be riding in the rain I take the HD rain suite.
I'll never own another frogg togg rainsuit, not another cheap one. Lot's of rain.....hard rain. I swear by my HD hi-vis rainsuit. Also, I have two helmets......my rain helmet is a 3/4 with a flip up shield and a pull down sun visor. As long as you pull up the hood on the jacket and then put the helmet on, you wil stay dry. I did. Also, Aerostich sells overgloves for about $14 bucks. They look like crap (hideous blue) but they work outstanding.
