Default Abs bearings

Have a 09 Flhx with a 17-21 combo and abs , looking at 2012 Flhx non abs, will the wheel with abs bearings work on a non abs bike with correct spacers or is a bearing change required ?

I'd like to know the answer to this as well. I was told by one dealer mechanic it would, but haven't done a swap to confirm.

The axle is the same. There is an extra spacer on the non-ABS bikes to take the space of the ABS sensor.

I am not 100% sure if the ABS and non-ABS bearings have the same width, but I would think they do because the sleeve (bearing spacer) inside the wheel is the same for all bikes, and all bearings stick out of the wheel the same amount.

I hope this makes sense...

wheel bearing on the side that the abs sensor is on is different. I just change the wheels on my SG and thats all i had to change to get them to work.

Thanks for the info I was hoping all I needed was a spacer in place of the sensor for it to work ,dealer made sound like it wasn't that simple

Default Bearing difference

The bearings are the same size, the ABS bearing has a different dust shell on the sensor side ( its Gold in color) aside from that the bearings are the same. As stated above, you will need to put a new spacer in place to take the place of the sensor...Your wheels will work!!

The ABS bearing is thicker, you will need to change the ABS bearing for a non ABS bearing.

Change the bearing. It's a lot easier than cutting a correct size spacer. Harley doesn't sell the custom spacer you would need. I did this on my last bike and it was not worth the effort.
