I have an 2007 Ultra. O2 sensors are gone. Ness Big Sucker Intake. MOCO Stage One Down Load. SE mufflers until now. Experiment. Left side late model mufflers on both sides with plug cut out with 1-1/4 hole saw. In other words. Straight thru mufflers. Recently installed. No theoretically based ideas. Just real world opinions. Can the Stage One download compensate? Please no advertisements for aftermarket EFI.
The stage one down load simply adds a small percentage more fuel than the bike needs at 14.7 to 1, but you pulled the O2 sensors. Not sure what happens then.
Does the stock ECM have a fall back mode for running with no O2 sensors?
I would think youre check engine light would be on at the very least. It should be. Theyre not really something you can just take off without a programmer that eliminates the need for them.
Really a good question, have you considered getting your exhaust 'Sniffed' to see where your fuel mixture is, most indy's will have the equipment to do it. If I were you I'd want to know. Still have the o2 sensors?
What exactly do you mean the o2 sensors are gone? Still in pipes unplugged, unplugged from wiring and put blank plugs in pipes or installed pipes with out bungs for o2's. Any of the cases have you left the wiring open ended with out anything connected to the factory electrical harnesses? Or are you running IED's?
Thanks to all ya'll for your great advice. A little back story. When I got my Ultra if was a salvage. Must have wiped out the pipes. It had early headers with no bungs for O2 sensors. Right after I got it I put the Ness Big Sucker, Rush slip ons 1-1/4 baffles and PCV. I had a bad experience with the PCV. Turned out it was a bad unit. It was replaced. But. Like the song says. Once Bitten, Twice Shy. The PCV sat on a shelve in my shop for two years. I ran the Stage One download and SE slipons. Until now. Put on the gutted HD slip ons. Rode it to work a couple of times. Better throttle response. But. I could feel the engine heat difference. So. Tonight I pulled the PCV off the shelve and installed it with a map for the thru flow slip ons. Went for a 20 mile ride. The reduction in the engine heat was quite significant. To answer my own question. No. I do not think the MOCO Stage One is adequate to compensate. Thanks. Ya'll ride safe this Memorial Day weekend.
Agreed the Stage I won't compensate, particularly with no O2 sensors. Without them, it has no way to adjust to maintain the desired AFR. Can't believe it's not throwing codes like crazy.
