Default Memphis Shade

I have a 2011 RKC (love it) and I have a Memphis Shades I put on for cold weather... I can take it off and put the windshield on or not. I bought the RKC so I could have the bike I wanted for the weather or the ride. I have been happy with the Memphis Shades.

Why I bought a RKC - by C.H.L.

I personally don't even use a windshield if I'm riding less than 250 miles a day.

If I'm off on a trip, or just going to ride a lot in a day, then I'll though on the shield.

Therefore, I didn't buy Street Glide, or anything with a fairing, because most of the time, I want it out of my way.

But like Ragtop said, versatility is awesome. If I had the money and garage space, I'd be like Jay Lenno....

Also, and this is just me, my color is a little bright.... On the ultras, and street glides, etc, it could be a little too much - but with my black bags, and no fairing, I think it looks pretty good. - another reason I didn't get a regular RK, or a glide......

If you put a fairing on that beauty you'll re-define the term fugly. It would belong in the freak show. Sorry, getting carried away, but if you want spend money and you want a fairing - trade it in for a Street Glide.

My $0.02 (okay, maybe $0.04)
I don't think mine looks fugly, to each his own. Thats why they sell so many models and accessories so you can make it your own.

Thanks for the explanation and for not taking offense at the question. I really was curious and your thought process makes perfect sense. I share your feelings about the color issue. I love purple Harleys (as you can see from my signature, I've owned 2) but, like you, I think purple hard bags would be too much purple. I wanted the leather anyway so it didn't matter to me. So if you get a fairing, would you intend to have it be black, or try to match your color?

That's the thing.... it would almost HAVE to be painted to match, if not, I think it would look so weird!!!!

More than likely, I'll never dump $1,000+ into getting a detachable fairing, and having it painted,.... I just think it is a cool concept, and wanted to see what people on here have done.

Although I might shell out a couple hundred bucks and get a dark windshield!!

--and I got thick skin,... Harley has about 20 different models all available in 10 different colors because people are so different.

Here is a 17" Dark Tint Windshield for $109, not a price (about like Memphis Shades)

Not sure how it would look on my bike.

Who on here has one, and wants to come by the house to let me try it on, to see if I like it??

I have a Reckless Fairing. I paid like $325 for it without a radio. I put a sweet system from Amazon in and absolutely LOVE it. I'm thinking the quality of the Reckless isn't that of Dragonfly, but it's also $800 cheaper. My bike isn't a show bike so I could care less. It's "perfect for me". I don't notice any flaws or anything negative to speak of. I dig the black gelcoat... means I don't have to paint it... even it's not "vivid black".

Here is a YouTube video of my ride with the fairing. It's also on Reckless' website under the gallery.
