So I just got my 12 inch flying apes from carlini, I didnt get the 14's because they run big so I actually have 13 inch apes.. Anyway I need to order all the cables I would need for an install, what is the best way to do this? Should I buy them in a set like burly and la choppers sell them or individually? Also I want to get cables that will long enough to add taller bars if down the road I want to do that route, being only 5'8 I think these are a good size for me.
In the set they have every cable and wire extension, do I need all that? The guy putting them on told me to get him the bars and the cables and hell install them for me so I want to make sure I do it right but im not wanting to buy things I dont need.

It depends on what you want. Black cables or braded stanless (shiny) 12 inch apes usually require +6" cables.
Another consideration is if you have ABS Brakes. If you don't have ABS you will have to replace the complete front brake line assembly. if you do have ABS it will be just the line that goes from the handlebars to the ABS module.
On some installation the Fly By Wire is long enough and others need an extension. It depends on how the bars are made.
Main wiring depends on wether your runing the wires inside the bars or out side. Most reqiure wire extensions. it's alaway better to have to much verses not enough. On the wires go 2 inches more than the cables, +6 on the cable +8 on the wires.
Im 5-8" and the 14's are not quit sboulder height....I went +6 on clutch and brakeline down to the 'block' just under the tripletree (non- ABS model) for my 14's. I read from just about everyone that they find themselves wishing went taller so I went extra on everything just in case I ever decide to go 16's which is always a possibilty cuz apes are just what I needed for badly needed pullback. How much is the installer charging you if you dont mind me asking?
I should add that I bought a spool of 18 gauge wire of any color for the extensions since I spliced the wire in the center of the bunch and color didnt matter. Solder and heat shrink tubing also which I already had.
Thanks Tucci but did you buy the entire kit? Ive seen these online for 350 with shiny cables or is it better to go individual my 05 road king doesnt have ABS.
As far as cost I havent gone over that, Im still 2 weeks away from being ready but he said it wouldnt be much being I send him automotive business an his hourly labor is 50% less then Harley.
