Default My experience with Battery Plus battery

The battery for my touring bike crapped out this morning. It started the bike, but it was dragging somewhat. I pulled the battery and took it to the store where I bought it 22 months ago. The owner of the store asked how he could help me and I explained what happened. He hooked up his monitor to the battery and 5 minutes later said he was going to swap out my battery for a new battery. He said their 24 month warranty would cover everything. So I walked out with a new battery with no prorate charges. Pretty simple. No screaming. No haggle. Bye the way, both stores have their Harley batteries made by Deka in Pennsylvania. Evidently this battery has a lot of lead in it because it is heavier than a Baldwin Locomotive. The same battery costs $30.00 more at the Harley store $179.00 and has no 24 month swap out warranty that I am aware of.

Gotta love that 24the month warranty.I just bought 1 myself for my softail and it had a $10.00 rebate too.
When the Ultra needs 1 i'll buy from them.Price and warranty can't be beat.

Always nice to hear positive stories. They are in the vast majority but unfortunately, the bad ones get the press. (rightfuly so I think)

The newer Harley batteries are AGM (Absorbed Glass Mat) and are considerably lighter than the lead acid batteries. The lead acid batteries, however, are cheaper to produce.

From Wikipedia: AGM batteries differ from flooded lead acid batteries in that the electrolyte is held in the glass mats, as opposed to freely flooding the plates. Very thin glass fibers are woven into a mat to increase surface area enough to hold sufficient electrolyte on the cells for their lifetime. The fibers that compose the fine glass mat do not absorb nor are affected by the acidic electrolyte. These mats are wrung out 2–5% after being soaked in acids, prior to manufacture completion and sealing.

Gonna get me one of those when I need my next one.... On my Metric I bought a batery in Sept, Last month I was having issues with it, called the store and they said it only had a 90 day warranty, What kind of BS is that, She told me there was nothing she could do, and I told her I would not be buying anything from them anymore, $129 down the drain...

The only difference in the AGM is the way the electrolyte is stored. They still have lead plates in them and because of the added Glass Matt are actually heavier than flooded batteries.

I didn't realize that. Just goes to show, you're never too old to learn. (especially on these forums!) Thanks for the heads up!

I just got 1 from Battery Plus. It was a AGM and it was like 140 with my companies discount. Liked the idea of the 24 month warrenty. Have been dealing with them for emergency light batteries and such.

Here are two pretty good priced battery suppliers. No 24 month warranty but I never pay for any warranty so no big deal for me. My luck has been if it's gonna go bad it will go in the standard warranty time.
