Looking from the exit end, the baffle is tapered. I just drill four 1/4" holes around where the tapered area (use pin punch to dent the area first so the drill bit won't walk). Sounds great after the mod.

Where the taper ends inside or at the end? Like a tele mod?
I sent my stock mufflers(2010 Ultra)to American Custom. They drilled out the mufflers and installed their short baffles(removable). I wanted more sound, so I drilled 5/16" holes until I got the sound I wanted. It was a no-brainer to me. Good luck.
American Customs will do the same thing you can do at home with the added bonus of welding flanges and the ability to remove the small baffles you drill out....this is what the stock baffles look like:
They take those, weld a plate so you can screw them back on to your stock pipe and charge you $70 for the same baffle..... Look familiar?
The sound of the pipe, without these baffles sounds like a car that lost its muffler down the street. My wife says she likes the sound, but a Harley should sound so much better.
I ended up drilling four 3/8" holes in the back plate of each muffler. Much better sound. I'm going to ride it a while like this before I drill any more holes. All in all I'm pretty pleased with the sound. Thanks to all who replied and sent pics. This is a great forum. Roy
