Question Cop seat on Electra Glide

Anybody else use one of these on their bike? What do you think? I put mine back on and it feels way too high and it angles toward the back of the bike.

Has anybody had theirs reupholstered?

I have a police seat on my 2005 FLHT with a Utopia rider's backrest. I think it is great

It does ride higher than a normal seat but shouldn't angle back. Do you have the air bladder installed and if so do you have enough air in it?

Good call BigD. Air bladder is flat. I filled it last night - there's a leak somewhere. I feel like I'm going to slide off the bike when I accelerate.

Also, I never heard of the Utopia Rider's Backrest. That's actually pretty slick. I may just order one.

Do either of you use highway pegs or just keep your feet on the boards?

Put one on my Road Glide last year,I'm6'6" so the extra seat helps me,+ I fabricated my own backrest using a cut down glide passenger backrest,it's the best thing I've done to the bike,I've cruising pegs on the crash bars

I tried a police seat on my 2010 RKC but it put me at least 2" higher. I would need to change the bars to make it work. I had a 1988 FLHT-P and it had a much better solo seat that used a gas shock. I went back to stock on the RKC.

I rented several HDs and was never comfortable on the stock seats. The solo seat on my 09 FLHP has me in just the right spot. I didn't have it reupholstered but I did hate the plastic pan underneath the seat so I had it covered in matching vinyl. This is the best shot that I have of it at the moment:

There are many on retiredpolicebikes.com that have swapped out the air bladder with Kong (dog chew toy) and ditched the canister entirely. I read about placing the canister on the strut between the right saddle bag and wheel which is where my is now:

I had the canister and some of the brass parts PC'd over the winter.

Reidrik, that looks like an ideal location actually. I was about ready to mount it in my saddle bags.

I pulled it all apart and fixed a leak with one of the fittings. It turns out its also leaking air out of the bladder where it connects to the metal parts. I'm guessing I'll need a new one. The part on harleys site is $200. Anybody know of a place to get one cheaper?

Set up a search on Ebay. Seats show up all the time an occasionally the bladders are available.

Latest auction ended last week - $100. :/ I'll keep watching. I'm also looking at that site, and it seems people use springs. I'm looking into that as well.

I just completed a weekend trip (400 miles) on the seat.

When it had air it was great. It positions me a lot higher and I have to really reach to touch the ground with my toes. (I'm 5' 9").

Also, it's position on the bike forces me to lean forward so I can reach the handlebars. This posture is ideal for low speed maneuvers and precision, but after sitting like that for 7 hours, my back doesn't feel so hot.

So now, the questions are:
1. How do you fix the posture? I've been researching this - there is some guy that somehow mounted his seat forward, but I can't find a link that isn't broken. Taller bars seem obvious, but I'm afraid it will impact my ability to control the bike, and possibly not fix my problem. (I've got some money set aside for this and would like to do it this week if possible).
2. Height? Obvious answer is to lower the back end. For people who have done this, do you scrape your foot boards in turns? Does the lower center of gravity help a lot?
3. ReidRik - the vinyl looks really sharp. Did you have an upholstery place make that or did you get it from a store somewhere and just put it over the plastic part and bolt things down?
