Not necessarily...if we were all built the same then sure there's not much difference, but size, weight, height, reach, inseam, etc...all play factors in how a bike feels/handles. IMO - best plan is to go out & test ride to compare because who better to judge than the prospective buyer.

As far as FLHX good/bad/ugly - windshield's too short, passenger pad (stock seat) sux, stiffer ride (suspension), but I really like the chopped looks of my bike & so Street Glide was my choice (after test ride). Go yo your dealership & "saddle up."

I spent 1000 miles on each on 2 separate occasions. Road glide wins out hands down. I felt cramped on the SG.

I've had a SG,RG,and 3 other Electra Glides. I did notice a difference in the stability of the RG. That said I still prefer the batwing.

The ride home from the dealership after taking delivery of my RG proved the fixed fairing was all it's cracked up to be, it was pretty windy and it was more stable than my RK... As for looks, I like the back end on the SG, and now it's the same on the RG.. So that was easy. The look of the fixed fairing took a long time for me to start liking, now I do, so here I am, I liked the RG enough to buy it!

Both bikes are really nice.

I recently traded my Streetbob in for a Road Glide and am extremely happy with my decision. The bike handles really well considering how heavy it is. Once you go to the touring side you will wonder why you didn't do it earlier.

Be forewarned though, you will spend a boatload of money "tweaking" the bike to get it perfect for your riding style. Be ready to get new bars, seat, highway begs, floorboard extensions, grips, tourpack, etc, etc, etc. The list just keeps getting longer and longer.

Buy 'em both, then sell the one that doesn't get ridden
