I have a crappy harbor freight lift. haven't had any problems with it yet. That little kid putting it together in china must have done something right...PS my neighbor has a sears. He had leaking too. He got a bottle jack from wal-mart and fixed it himself. If I recall correctly. not sure which he got or how he did it

I called Sears on this one too, no luck with just the jack, going to try local Hydro shop next.
I have had the red one for about 5 years now. Hard lesson learned, don't tell you big drunk friend to step on that small release pedal!!! He stood on it alright!!! Not just pressed lightly to release pressure!!! and now I can't build presure enough to get the Ultra off the ground. Still works for Dirt bikes and other lighter stuff and ya gotta be a fast pumper and make sure the catches or whatever the stops are called ar not locked in the open position. I made every adjustment i could and still no dice. I will stay tuned.

I've had mine for a couple of years with no issues. My jiffy stand is in the way and the jack wont go under the bike if its up, so I guess its working out to be good insurance leaving the jiffy down.

iv had my sears red jack almost 7 years & no problems up until recently. it wouldnt put the bike all the way up last time i used it no biggy though there are two other lock position to use.
i dont think the bike would fall over even if you left the stand up when you let the jack down it might lean just a bit but doubt it would fall over.
i like the idea of buying one & the returning it ONLY cause they were no help at all.
ohh & i like how smooth the jack lowers the bike down, buddy has the OTC version & he says the thing just wont lower the bike slowly at all.

just my 2 cents

..whoa!...don't forget to put the safety bar down into one of the notches so it CAN"T come down...I wouldn't rely on just the jiffy stand...

I replaced mine with a cheapo bottle jack. I had to drill another hole in base & weld an atachment for the top part. Not sure it was worth it, but sometimes handy to have a second one to go with my J & S which can't be beat.

I bought the yellow floor jack from sears for about 190.00 U can't go wrong with this jack as I have had mine about three years now. It was worth the money. I had the red piece of junk jack from sears in question and it broke after abot one year!

Exactly what I was thinking! It dosen't make a chit whether you leave your jiffy stand down or not if one uses the jack correctly. From reading some of these posts it sounds like user error in some cases that the bottle jack starts to leak in the first place.

I jack my red sears model all the way up, then put saftey bar down. I then release "ALL" the pressure on the jack. I have had my bike up like this for days on end working on it, sometimes weeks. So I don't understand the "leave the jiffy stand down just in case method" haha! I guess it's entertaining though.

I have had my red jack for 4 yrs, no issues. $110 delivered is what I paid then.
