Default Electra Glide engine heat

Why does an Electra Glide engine put off more heat than Softails and other models.

Simple. It does. I have both a Fat Boy and an Ultra. The engine itself may not give off more heat, but you feel more heat on your legs....

EGs have fairings and lowers plus most have all kinds of devices to direct air away from you and the motor you are sitting on and it takes more energy to push all of that down the road. The newer ones have a CAT which is like putting a space heater right next to your right foot and leg. Removing the CAT will be a BIG improvement. It was for me.

Fairings?
Seating position relative to the engine?
Catalytic Converters? And location?
Engine size?
Tune?

Probably many more possibilities too!

Thanks. I think removing the CAT would be the best first step in that I want to maintain as much stock as I can....

That will make a big difference in ambient heat felt on the right side.
