Default DOT sticker

Kind of a silly question, but does anyone know if there is an issue with removing the DOT sticker from one's helmet?

Why would you want to? If you're travelling in a state with a mandatory lid law and you don't have a DOT sticker, you're subjecting yourself to some possible unwanted heat.

I believe the sticker is for the purchaser to see that it is an approved on-highway helmet. Other then that the sticker can go.

I guess a better question would be how can one get a replacement sticker. My DOT sticker was chipped some and when i was cleaning my lid some of it pealed off. It's a Harley helmet I wonder if I can go to them for assistance.

You can remove it because the lable inside should state that it's an ANZI approved helmet. IF it doesn't say that....keep it there....

I just got my helmet painted and I removed mine. I haven't had any problems so far.

I am not sure about all state laws, most police officers are not going to pull you over because they do not see it, BUT what I can tell you is if you do get pulled over for something else, they may ask to see your helmet at least that is what happened to a buddy of mine in So California and yes he did get ticketed.
You know California has some jacked up laws
