One thing for sure with the Dem in control we won't have to worry about going to jail for speaking our minds or because some gov jerk over heard your cell phone conversation and misunderstood what you were talking about - Patriot Act my ***. Give up all your rights - I'll protect you and keep you safe and let you live free - yea right again - Complain about some crap service in an aiport and see how much freedom you got. Now will get to the EPA and our bikes - The Rep have been in office for 6 -7 years it ain't the dem's making the changes - its the tree huggin public forcing it
Back to the post I don't think removal of the DOT sticker violates any know section of the current Patriot Act but it could be revised at any time and if it is found out that your actions were not a completly and totally accidental in the removal of this gov. approved sticker, with witnesses, documentation and video to support your defence you could be in serious trouble for violation of rule governing national security
But I would'nt worry about it

I bought a beanie at a rally and paid an extra buck for a DOT sticker that was printed on an Avery stick-on dot using a laser printer. My experience is that it's not a big deal and as long as you have something on your head in a helmet state--especially a helmet that really IS approved--you're not likely to have a problem with a ticket. Of course, that's unless you get stopped for something else and the cop is looking to make a case doing anything he can.

In New York my friend got a ticket for not having a DOT approved helmet. I guess it depends on the cop, the state and whether he got laid last night. For legal purposes I would think as long as you can prove it is DOT certified you would be okay.

Let me see, maybe it went down like this, you getstopped for doing 94 in a 65 zone, fail to signal a lane change, and a few beers under your belt and you getone ticket for no DOT Sticker on your helmet. Cops are such pri*ks.

I would think THEY have to prove it that it ISN'T....innocent until proven guilty and all that. People would look at my sticker and ask about it, and I would say, "It was on the helmet when I bought it--how should I know, I'm not a friggin engineer".
