I am new to Harley's, but will say I love my '07. I almost bought the '06 but didn't see enough of a difference in the price to go with that over the '07. Either way you look at it you will own a sweet ride. If noises end up being problems, I will make Harley remedy the problem (after I get over being pissed of course). Not sure I would take the advice from someone who wouldn't buy a bike because he doesn't like other people that bought one. Good luck in whatever you decide.

I spent a lot of time riding both and like you I was undecided. However: it's a no brainer....96in, 6 speed, 0 problems in 1500 miles. You'll love the 07.

As an '07 RKC owner, if I had it to do over again, I would look for a low mileage '06 that had already had the Stage 1 done to it and a few other "goodies." Although the '07 has the larger engine and the 6-speed tranny, the power difference is not noticable and sixth gear is pretty useless unless you're on the interstate, which I rarely am.

07 Hands down! Cost is about the same, don't have to spend the thousands for that little bit of extra HP and TQ everyone goes for. 6 Speed is great for the open road. You pay much less to upgrade the 07 to 103 compared to the 06. 5,000 + miles no problems and loving it!

Tell that to my partner. He has a '06 carbed SG with V&H true dual header w/ SE slipons, K&N airfilter and jetted and my 07 walk away from him...........easily. My bike is stock with SE aircleaner and SE slashcut slip-ons. Power difference is noticeable to him for sure.

08 !! the bugs will be worked out!!
I agree, they'll be out in about 7 mos. If you buy an '07 you'll wish you waited for the '08. Wait, maybe you should wait for the '09's, their sure to be much improved over the '08.[sm=goodidea.gif][sm=icon_rofl.gif][sm=icon_rofl.gif][sm=icon_rofl.gif][sm=laughat.gif]
I agree IAMSWUTIAMS and maybe if he waits until the 2010s they will have all the '07 bugs worked out by then, so maybe holding out until the 2011s come out is best. Honestly man if you can find a good deal on an '06 go for it, if not none of my friends have issues with their '07 and about a dozen of my buddies have '07s. You do what you really want to do, because if you don't you will think about it all the time and kick yourself every chance you get.

I got an '06 and am happy with it. However, I specifically wanted a carbureted bike, so '06 was the last chance for a Road King custom with that configuration. Removed the cat's within a couple hundred miles, K&N'd it/adjust carb....Vance & Hines, good to go for what I wanted.
Makes enough power for me, and purrs pretty good down the highway at about 3000 rpm at 70....fine by me. Torque band is good at that speed if I want to ratchet it up. Plus they gave me pretty good $$ on my lowrider in trade....(believe it or not, amazing what a paint job will do for the bling factor lol)

No right answer as Canedog said, just go for something.

At 70 mph I'm at 2800 rpm on my 06 SG with Stage 1 etc, andat 75its still just under 3000. Really if your doing alot of big slab riding at 80+ then a 6 speed in a road glide would be my choice. For my type of riding can't see a 6 speed being of too much use. I ride at65 to 75 mph and she smooths out beautifully right there.

If I were doing this again I'd be looking for a low mileage 05 or 06 that somebody has put some extras into.
