Default Sound Check Please !

OK so I just changed all my fluids myself for the first time on my 2012 Limited.
I used all the Red Line products and an K & N oil filter. I know I didn't need to change trans. and Primary yet ( 4,500 miles) but wanted to change them all seeing I had to change the oil anyway and this way I would no longer be a HD fluids changing virgin.
After all the babbling what I want to ask is I put 38 oz. in primary and while idling it to check for leaks I noticed a knocking that wasn't there before coming from the primary. I added a couple more oz's and tried it again and the knocking is still there.
Is the Red Line primary oil thinner then HD synthetic 20w-50 that would not deaden the sound as much? I took it for a little spin and can hear that sound very slightly but I didn't hear it before the change.
Any help would be appreciated.

I can't answer your question but I have a question for you. I also just switched over to all redline fluids.
When you filled the tranny back up, how much tranny fluid did it take? The manual says to put in 28oz then check and fill as needed. I did that and had to dump the whole 32 oz in. I am still just below the "add" mark and picked up another quart so I can add a couple more oz in it.
How did your go? I know the redline sticks to everything so less fluid will be sitting in the bottom when I check it. Just wondering how yours turned ok, how much did it take to get to the fill line in yours?

I ended up dumping the whole qt. in too and after riding it a while it was at or really close to full so I decided to call it good and keep an eye on it.

Well the redline must be doing what it says it does then, sticks to everything and doesn't sling off the gears. I am no rocket scientist but seems like there is at least 2-3 oz clinging to the gears and internals unlike the HD oil.
How do you like being able to find neutral on the first try just about every time now?

I like this stuff way better then the stuff that came in it. By the way I just went out and checked the tranny after it's been sitting all day and the level was full. Are you checking it on level ground and on the side stand ? The first time I checked mine it was on the lift.

Tranny takes one full quart. I believe the primary takes 38 ounces on all new touring bikes.

As it is right now, I have been riding it as is till I could get more oil.
First time I checked it, it was on the side stand and it doesn't even touch the dip stick. So I checked it standing up and with the oil cap resting on the threads like the manual states. I get oil just at the very bottom of the stick. If I screw the oil cap in, I get oil almost to the add line.
Way I figure, it is ok to run till I can get a few more oz of oil in it, that redline is coated on everything soon as you get moving and it stays there.

I didn't see in the manual where it says to put it on the side stand or lift. Only thing specific I read was rest the cap on the threads when checking and fill 28oz at first then fill as needed.
If I can get it to the add mark on the side stand and the full mark straight up? I'll be happy with that.

I haven't had time to mess with it the last week or so. Soon as I changed all the fluids, the ABS failed and took out my front brake with it a couple days after the oil change. Bike was in the shop for a week and I stopped and got oil yesterday. Gonna fill er up this evening if it's not raining by the time I get home.

my 2011 owners manual says 32 fl oz on the trans and i have always had to put a full quart in to get the correct level on dip stick.
WP I dont know what the nocking is in your primary but I thought red line primary oil was much heavier than HD syn from what I am told it is supposed to make it quiet not noisy. I would say take it in to the dealer but they prob will tell you its normal.
Does the noise change when it gets hot? is it any louder under load?

I was surprised when I put it in how thin it was almost looked like anti-freeze IMO
