Engine Tick Ideas
Hey guys. Been a while since Ive posted but I got my bike on the lift. I am going on a trip in August and I hope to be able to fix this problem before then.
My top end started developing a tick over 2000 rpms. It seems to get louder the higher the rpms and it also seems to tick faster the higher you rev it. It doesnt seem to tick until its up to temperature. The ticking isnt anything excessive, about as loud as a sewing machine.
01 Roadking Fuel Injected
Twin Cam 88
No mods except for adjustable pushrods
20-50w Mobil 1 Synthetic V-twin Oil w/ Lucas oil stabilizer.
65000 Miles
I boreascoped the cylinders and the top of the pistons have quite a bit of carbon build up. I plan on using the water mist technique to rid that on the pistons. The bike does not smoke and uses no oil so I really dont want to do a complete rebuild until I need to.
I am going to re adjust the adjustable pushrods before I tear anything down just to be sure one of more of them didnt back down.
What else could I possibly be dealing with? Bad lifter? Rocker Bushing?
