Default Electra Glide Washing

Anyone ever take the side covers off and wash behind them? I took them off today and it is nasty behind them but seen some electrical parts behind there and was afraid of damaging something if I got it wet.

I did everytime I washed my old 99 EG for 12 years and never had a problem. Only done it on my 2010 Ultra a maybe half a dozen times and still no problems.

I have a Road King but side cover are side covers, regardless of the bike. I guess if I felt the need to clean there I would use compressed air or even a can such as what you would use to clean a PC.

Yeah, I get in there. Usually wipe things down with a slightly damp cloth.

Not with water I use a detail brush since its mostly dust.I also use dielectric grease on any electrical contacts or fuses to keep corrision at bay.

I never wash under the side covers, but now that you mention it, it might not be a bad idea once in a while, just for inspection purposes, if nothing else...a little water shouldn't hurt anything. I ride in the rain once in a while, so I know it's getting wet under there then..

**** about cleaning the bikes is fine, if you have that much time. Some of us so fricking much O/T, we can't spend the requisite amount of time cleaning em, so we do what we can. I do admire a spotless beautiful bike tho......Just taking the bags off and getting all that crud outta there is something I also don't do often enough.....Aaaaahhhhh, when I retire and have a Lift??????? Then the girl will be clean!!!!!
