Default 200/50-17

It's rear tire time again for my Roadie. Currently on a 200/55-17 Metzler, a 26" Vee up front and ridin on air at both ends. Lookin for a change, thus the lower 50-series profile. Been gettin 5k or so outa the Metz. Anybody ridin on this size of tire and have suggestion on alternates to my Metzlers? Thanks in advance.

I have a 200/50ZR17 Avon Storm II on mine with no complaints. The most recent one has 10K on it and is not worn out. The bike has 30K on it and this is the third one (second one's life cut short by a nail).

I had the same tire as Camsmith. I had 8k on it before a nail took it out. It only had a little sign of wear. I did go to the 200/55 Avon this time due to the heavier load rating. I'd like to try that new Dunlop American Elite 200/55 next.

Thanks guys. The Storm and the Elite are two other brands I was looking at. My bike is set up as a strickly solo ride so I should be OK with 853# load rated tires vs a 55-series tire which are typically rated at 937#. I'm leaning towards the Avon Storm at the moment. Thanks for your helpful responses.

The 200 tire will fit on 09 and newer baggers. We sell tons of tires and the 200/50/17 is one of our most popular choices. We mainly deal in Metzeler's. I avhe ridden our shop bike that has that rie on the rear and it handles very well. SDoes the 5mm difference in height on the sidewall make a difference to me? Not really. I guess if I rode 2 up loaded down all the time and height was not an issue than I would choose the 55 as opposed to the 50, but I rarely ride 2 ulp and never on a trip.
