36 years on 2 wheels and have never used chrome polish. Soap and water then wax. Neverdull for the occasional boot mark.

Been using HD's chrome polish for years and no problems/scratches. One tube lasts awhile.

I am a chrome junky and super picky, turtle wax has never done me wrong with any scratches.

I second neverdull - good balance between being able to get tougher boot marks out and not ruining the look over time.

I clean my chrome with windex then go back over it with Lucas Slick Mist. Seems to do pretty good.

+1 on Turtle Wax Chrome Polish when needed but mostly just clean towel and TLC/elbow grease.

I've used Blue Job for years to remove minor discoloration and the occasional scuff mark. Never a scratch, and a great finish after. Don't use it excessively - but really does the job when normal wash or Windex is not sufficient.

I work at a Ford Dealership and we had a TSB a little while back about cleaning rust stains from the bumper of F150's. We use a cleaner called Motorcraft Custom Metal Bright Cleaner. I haven't used it on newer chrome, but my old '91 Fatboy had some neglected chrome and it cleaned it up really nicely. That being said, it did take the rust stains off, so it has to be a bit of an abrasive.

I do highly recommend it for neglected chrome though.
