Default Gas Gauge Backlight does not work

Last night coming back from Laconia I noticed my gas guage's backlight no longer works. All other gauges lights work fine and the gas gauge does actually work, just not the light.

Is there a separate wire for the light in there or am I SOL.....

There is a bulb in the back of the guage.
pull the fairing, it either burned out or maybe just fell out.
EAZY FIX!

+1 - typically 2 connectors and rear of gauge. The top one is a 2-pin plug for the backlight. Quarter turn the light bulb and remove.

I had one out about a year ago, pulled fairing and it was laying there lit in a bundle of wires. Just pushed it back in and no issues since. Easy fix

It's an easy fix, to make it better go with LEDs in all of your guages, they are bright, and you won't have to worry about replacing them again.

Just replaced my fuel gauge lamp today (T 158 bulb)...

Didn't even take the fairing all the way off - remove all screws, pull it back, stick hand in, remove bulb socket from gauge, insert new bulb, stick socket back in, bolt up fairing, and good to go!

I hear the Road Glide fairing is not as easy to get into.. maybe I don't want a FLTR after all...

Hmm, LEDs....I like that idea. Now a simple bulb swap is now a several bulb swap! HaHa

LED's would be cool, you may have to send out the speedo and tack though because the bulb is sealed inside the guage. If you changed the other 4 then they wouldnt match. Do a search, there are a few places that will do guages and radio too if you want them to match or if you want a different color.
