The question is who's made it down 301 in Florida on the way to Ocala, gotten a speeding ticket and talked their way out of THAT one. Now that would be something! Those local LEOs are murder and will cite you for a tick or two over the speed limit in some of those towns.
I've never been able to talk my way out of anything let alone a ticket. My wife, on the other hand, has been pulled over twice as many times and has gotten half as many tickets. Sheesh.
This area i sso bad for this that even the travel services lke AAA wont direct you through here. The state of Florida needs to serve these jokers with a serious message and cut the state fuding if they dont knock off the crap.Take a ride/drive through there and enjoy the signs the go from 65 to 55 to 45 to 35 to 25 and back up so much that you cant even remember what road you're on. Without fear or regret I would tell any LEO from this area how ashamed of themselves they should be for writing tickets in this area, clearly nothing more than a revenue making scheme. Also, this has been highlighted on several area news station many many times and no one ever addresses it.
I got tagged in triple digits by a CHP on a HD, I saw him in the mirror, but didnt know that chp was using HD's so I thought I was safe. When he came up to me I got the ?? "Do you know how fast you were going?" I just smiled and said " I was haulin azz, at least a buck, probably more, but she asked me!" The CHP officer started laughingand told me that if he EVER saw me doing that again he would throw me in jail, and let me off with a warning.
It turned out that this route was his normal beat and he saw me every day coming home from work. We BS'd for awhile about HD's and if he liked it over the Kawa that he normaly rode.
I just tell them I didn't realize I was speeding and hand them my military ID with my license and registration. Usually they ask what I do in the military. When I tell them bomb disposal, they usually let me go with a warning. Not always though.
It seems to me if you were speeding and you were pulled over, what does an excuse have to do with it? Take the ticket, given to you for what you were knowingly doing, and move on. Making up lame excuses typically only pisses off the cop. From my experience if you are straight up with them they will treat you decently.

Just my $.02 worth......
Exactly. And while you are sitting there waiting for Officer Friendly to write your ticket, ask yourself an HONEST question:
How many times I have I gone down the road speeding, that I didn't get caught??
No excuse. I was stopped in AZ and the first thing he asked was if I was armed (huh?).
Smart question on his part as we can carry a weapon openly or concealed (if you have a CCW).
Yup! Another good icebreaker too sometimes! Cops like to have fun with that one "You leave your piece hidden, and I won't have to pull mine!" type of thing. I've only been pulled over a few times, only once for speeding (that was back in 1999 in San Diego).

I don't set a limit before I pull you over. one day it could be 2mph over
Am I the only one that read this and thought, "you've got to be kidding me?"? Sorry but it is officers like this that give cops a bad name. I'm not bashing here, but now lets get real. Anyone is going to run a few mph under or over the limit, unless they drive down the road stairing at their speedometer; and I hope I'm not on the same road as that person. And why would you want to ruin someones day over something so trivial? Just a freindly reminder to all the LEOs out there. Your job is to "serve and protect". Who would you be protecting by pulling someone over for go 2 mph over the limit? Remember, do unto other as you wish overs do unto you.
