Default open air filter

Hey guys, what's the easiest and cheapest way to get the little round open air cleaner setup for a 2012 Ultra? It looks like just a backing plate of some kind with a K&N filter plus a round chrome cover. I like the simplicity of it and it looks like it would flow great.

Is it a problem in the rain?

Not a problem in the rain, some people run a win sock.

Get this one, much better and less expensive than Harley's part.

then get something like this: http://www.motorcycle-superstore.com...=45&zmap=27661

Just Just curious, it is $10 cheaper, but how is it "much better" than the Harley part. BTW, with the readily available 20% discount, the Harley part is cheaper by $18.

Or simply cut up your stock one, I did this for my 08 then moved it to my 12. All you need is a K&N filter.

I run mine open. I don't use a sock and I have seen my share of rain storms, but since I live in west Texas, the sand storms were more of a concern for me.
I have run this way for 2 years and have NEVER had an issue with it (sockless). I do service it about every 2,000mi or if I was in a sand storm. I have never serviced it right after a rain storm though and still no issues.

Because it comes with a chrome backing plate, and I assume most people want one.

Harley's part comes with a cheap cast backing plate, and the chrome backing plate is sold separately for $49.95, and you also have to buy the chrome breather bolts

i bought the old se kit from fuelmoto and used some vht bbq paint and painted it black. k&n filter, and dark custom ac cover.

i've only had one problem in the rain, pre rain sock, and that was when the rain was coming down, hard, at a 45* angle from my right. no lowers either. didn't stall, but bike sure didn't like it. sputtered a little bit, and hesitated when you would give it throttle. but it was raining hard enough that we thought it prudent to get off the interstate anyway. so hit the next exit, and hung out under the roof at the gas station until it settled down.
