I guess this evening I'll pull the outer off and check all the connections out.

Just to make sure, there is no "activating" the nim? The head unit should pick it up automatically?

Yep, as long as all the pins are secure then it should see it.

I just hate being the first in a bunch to do something.

You are hardly the first, when these first came out there was a error in the instructions. I guess there is the possibility that you got a older unit. Do you have the part number you installed handy.
The current part number is 76000024A there should also be a date next to the part number. Mine was 3/19/2012 and it worked correctly when I installed it last month.

Ha-ha, well the first in my group.
Mine was the A part number. The date is late 2011.

When I installed mine last year I read there was some incorrect instructions, contact the dealer and verify your wiring instructions. I believe it was 2 pins on the radio input.

It is a Road Tech 660 and not the regular Garmin 660, correct?

I installed the 660 on my Limited and couldnt get sound through the speakers. Check the 35 or 36 pin plug and be definately sure that the additional pins are seated, I believe I added about five of them. Make sure your speaker rocker switch is in the lighted position, those pins may look seated but they must be in, they actually click if you can hear it, good luck,,,...o~' o
