2011 SG stock bars, grips, controls. Past couple of rides I've had more of an issue with my throttle hand getting numb. I checked it out last night in the garage and I can slide the throttle back n forth ( into and out of) the stock conrtol by 1/8". Also, I can wiggle the throttle itself around the bar. It is this play between the throttle and the handlebar that is causing the vibrations. When I bought the bike new , it did not have this much play.
It is under warranty and I will be brining it to the dealer to get it addressed, but wanted to check to see if anyone else had this issue and if replancement of the throttle was needed or there was some way to fix it.
My 2010 SG has approx 1/8 inch of play in and out also. It has never really bothered me as it hasn't affected the performance. As far as wiggling or rotating the throttle grip around the bar... if the bike has cruise it will rotate backwards by design... mine also has some play in that area but has not affected me negatively therefore I haven't done anything about it... maybe I've just gotten use to it being this way.
It's normal as long as it isn't an extreme amount. The in-and-out play is to prevent the throttle sleeve from sticking on the bars and making it hard to turn. The rotational play is to prevent the cables (on old bikes) and the TBW on new bikes from constantly being open/on. The little bit of slack gives an assured distance to close the throttle body fully.
