Emergency belts aren't 'endless'- They're joined in a V-shaped joint across 4 teeth. Small steel rods pressfit into the teeth to hold it together. Only supposed to be used in emergency to get you home or to a shop but I knew someone that put 5000+ miles on one before replacing it. I've carried one in the saddlebag for years but have never used it.
