Search "buffet" on the forum and you may come to a different conclusion about whether a fairing is better than a windshield.
You can't go wrong with a Road King. YOu can turn it into anything you want from a cruiser to a tourer. (That's in my completely unbiased opinion.)
If you will notice most of those buffering complaints are from people who use a short windshield to look cool.
I'm 6' and any windshield 9" or shorter gives me way to much buffering.
Had a Road King and really miss her a bunch but the Limited is one heck of a fine ride. I've got the wide glide for buzzing around town but, if I didn't, I think I'd go with the King.
Well the Road King still RULES as far as I'm concerned. It's very convertible with all the detachables and with ear buds and an iPod you have outstanding sound/tunes, so the fairing bikes have nothing on that. I like that it can be totally stripped down for around town and yet in 10 minutes can be a full Dresser with TourPak, etc for coast to coast road trips.
The new Touring chassis kicks *** too, a big improvement.
