Default Valve train noise

My front cylinder has always ticked a little, more so when hot. With that said I was on my way home and if I went over 2k rpm it made a much louder clacking noise, under 2k and it was fine. Oil pressure was 32psi cruising a little lower at 50 mph in sixth and the oil light never came.
Took her apart and only found a little wear line on the front exhaust lifter and cam lobe,
pinion run out was 3 thousands, no other wear found from the rocker arms to the cam except the cam adjuster for the rear cylinder, Any guesses? I'm leaning towards a bad lifter.
Replacement items are as follows 4 stock push rods, 4 stock lifters and 2 cam adjusters.
I will find out soon enough I guess. Thanks

Cruising lower then 50mph in 6th gear. I call that driver error not motor problems.

It was the only way to make it home without ya know BOOM! Still was rollin' at 2k rpm and 32 psi, nothin' wrong with that and at that point I was more concerned about rpm than anything.

It could be a tight valve. My 01 ultra always ticked and when I recently rebuilt the top end I found a valve guide damaged and a tight exhaust valve in the rear head. Now it's back together and the quietest it's ever been.

Thanks Ultrascott. Any other symptoms up until your rebuild?

The primary (rear cylinder} was a little warn, the secondary (front cylinder) looked fine.
I did replace both.

No just the ticking and then my oil press went downhill. Tensioners were shot so i Replaced with the screaming eagle upgrade kit and then had to do rings, valve job and now all is good. Great oil press about 16 psi at idle and around 45 cruising.

How many miles did you have on the motor before you rebuilt it?

No smoke? Did a leak down test show anything? Early 88's had spring type adjusters hope you got the upgrade.
