Default Front Fork Bearing

Just a question have Ultra Limited and took in for 5000 mile service. Had a shake in front was told by dealer no problem front fork bearing would need tightened. They are noted on these bikes and do this about every 5000 miles. Then when picking up wanted to charge hours fees for adjustment for they are not covered under warranty or extended. Is this right? fair? or ethical?

2010 SG 21k and no shake and no adj..have greased them with grease gun several times. In California they would have to tell you and give you a estimate prior to the work

You should always get & they should always supply a service estimate prior to any work being done.

Neck bearings & the adjustment is considered a serviceable item and unless the bearing cage breaks, is not covered under warranty.

If you are talking about the neck bearing needing tightening up, then yes they do typically get loose when new or relatively new. I had a mechanic tell me that they are not required by the MOCO to do a swing test on new bikes when they are uncrating them anymore. Instead, he said his boss told him to wait until the customer complained about it and then to tighten it up. He said they bill some people and some people they just forget it. So, if your dealer decided to give you the pickle, you might want to remember that the next time you buy something from them. Or not.
