I have the #56569-09 on my 2012 FLHR and set it up with a slight rearward tilt for my riding style. So far, so good. I also micro-adjusted the grips/twist throttle/levers so my hands are up a bit. Again, the adjustments together with the slight tilt towards me worked fine.
I have them pulled back as far as I can, the problem is the angle of my wrists, they are turned in at an angle instead of straight. It causes pain and numbness in my hand. I use my cruse control and it helps.
I used the reduced reach bars because of the more neutral wrist angle. I think they are around $100? It has been a while. They can be wired internal, but that requires additional parts that can get expensive.
I went to the dealer and sat on a Heritage and liked the angle a lot so installed the 56569-09 bars and am very happy with them. The grip angle is quite different than the "Heritage Style" bars. Think I paid about $60 bucks from Surdyke. They do have to be modified for the TBW but it took all of 30 minutes with a drill and dremel. Just got back from a 10 state 2800 mile ride and never thought about the bars once so they must be working for me.
Have you tried tilting them back? Just be sure they clear the tank lock to lock.
That's what worked for me, in line with the forks were no good...
Be sure to level everything on the bars when done, my .02
+1 for me . Im running the "HD heritage Style Bars and for less than 70.00 they were one of the best comfort change Ive made to my bike. But I did not like them at all when I first put them on and rode it. They were in line with the forks , I tilted them back as far as I could with out them hitting the gas tank console at full lock turn and they are great at that position.
The Heritage style bars have a funky wrist angle. I tried them and now I have Wild One 515s. Same height, no cable changes needed (you have to extend the wires...Not hard at all).
Hey casper are you running the +2 sweepers. I agree $300 is a lot for a set of bars.
Had them on my 2010 RG, ordered a set for the 2012 SG....got them from Powersport Junkie, 68.00 shipped.
Not sure about RK, didn't read your post right (FLHR).. But everyone that I know running them likes them, wrist angle is more nutral than wheel borrow type. I like them.
