It may not be as good a price as you think.
Any day now the 2013's hit the street, the dealers will then be discounting the new 12's to get them off the floor to make room for the new models. You can get a 2012 new, with 0 miles for $2000 under sticker if you wait. then you can spend the money on your own customization.
Inspection? Not needed, its from a dealer with full warranty. Buy a new bike, do you get it inspected? 450 miles is a two day weekend of riding.

Alright guys - Thanks for all the valuable input. I pulled the trigger today and got it!! Man I love it!
Anyone want to buy a Sportster??
I did not finance so the interest rate was not a factor. Out here in SC it seems that you CANNOT get any of the stealerships to discount the Street Glide. It is to popular and is catching over MSRP. I could not touch this bike for under $22.5 out the door, and that is without the added Rush pipes.
The denim colors are cool but mar easily if you aren't careful and require special cleaning procedures.
i dunno about 'marring easily'. i've had mine for over 2 years and don't have any thing other than normal wear and tear. they do say that the denim finishes will wear 'like your favorite jeans', so you will eventually get some type of patina. but in my opinion, much easier to keep looking good than the vivid black.
as far as special products go, i use windex. i guess you could call that a specialty product, but you can get it for $5.00 for a gallon. how much does that meguires cost for the vivid black?

if you weren't so far away, i'd think about that myself. that yellow is really growing on me

i'm gonna have to buy my next bike in texas. here in la, you are not gonna get that kind of break off msrp, even with new models sitting on the floor. about the best you can hope for here is a free extended warranty. and it isn't the long one either.
sounds like a good deal to me, especially if it has cruise, abs & security as others have stated - i wouldn't even offer 18K and just give the person what he wants rather than insult the seller to save 500 bucks.
Most will disagree on here, but I am with you. I ask a fair price and don't like to dicker. If I guy just asks once if I go lower I don't care, but if he keeps asking and I know it is good enough price that it will definitely sell, I'll sell to someone else.
I sold my 2004 Vulcan 750, last year, for $2300. The buyer asked if I would sell for less, and I laughed and said no. He laughed and said he knew it was worth it but felt he had to give it a shot. That was fine.
