New guy checking in...
The vibration of the Harley, especially at idle, is something I'm definitely not used to, but I like the rough feel of it - makes the bike seem more alive and lets you know there's actually something going on underneath the gas tank. I was actually surprised at the vibration the first time I test drove an SG. The Softail Custom I rented before had the balanced TC-96 motor rigid mounted, and didn't seem to vibrate really any more than my V-Star, but the first time I threw a leg over a SG and cranked it up, and got the shake of the unbalanced rubber mounted engine, I was just thinking, "this is more like it, this feels like a motorcycle!"
After throwing down 800 miles or so on my SG in the week or two I've owned it, its really starting to feel like "my bike," and I'm getting to learn all of it's little quirks, and how it wants to be ridden. I love this bike so much more than I loved that V-Star, and that's saying something.
This bike just feels so much more like how I think a motorcycle should feel. My only two complaints about it so far are that I really think H-D mounts the floorboards too far inwards (fixed that already with the Harley Goodies spacers - love 'em!) and the super-quiet stock exhaust has got to go, because it just doesn't sound like how it looks and feels. That's going to be remedied here shortly, I have a set of 4" Rinehart slip-ons due to show up today from Mr. UPS guy.
F.Y.I. ................That "Big Blue Pearl" color is a one year only (2012) on the Street Glide.
It will be on other bikes in 2013, but not the Street Glide.
