Every situation is different, but I think anyone should almost always turn into the near lane. you're entering one lane instead of 2 or 3, easier for someone to swerve around you or you to swerve around them. Problem is you never know where the idiots are going.
Wow, scarey experience for sure. Glad you're basically OK and the bike will be back in the game soon enough. You can never be too careful is all I can say.
Ok your story has a huge some huge holes in it. I am glad you are ok. But if you were 3rd car in a row taking lefts at traffic times going to work. Some people run lights on lefts because they sat through the green not being able to make the left. This truck was just running a light with 2 cars in front of you already making a left?? Are you sure you didnt just try to follow other cars running the light. I drive a truck and see it all the time during rush hour. Maybe I am wrong, But I have seen the last second left taken to many times.

Nope, stopped at the light. Cross street not heavily traveled. First and second car go then me. I'm moving with the flow of traffic but there was distance between me and car immediately in front of me. Truck just blew through the light and must have swerved around the cars in that lane. Don't know that as I didn't see or don't remember due to trying not to wreck. 6:30 in the morning not rush hour in that part of town. Love how some folks want to be an internet detective.
