ok so i just changed the oil in my 07 flhx with lucas synthetic motorcycle oil 20-50 in all three holes with a quart of lucas oil stabilizer in the motor. just wandering if anyone else runs this oil and how many miles i can expect to get in all three locations
Let me correct my post by saying 5 k on the motor oil, reff to the manual with tranny and primary recommendations.
when my indy did my 5k he did all three, his reason is that everything was really not all broke in yet at 5k, so just to be on the safe side he changes them all. he did mention some of the crap that was on the magnet from the primary. cheap insurance anyway. since I'm here did you ever live in St.Louis, i grew up with a guy when i was young named victor tucci.
Look. 5,000 mi. is a max. recomendation. I'm sure synthetic will prevent metal deterioration beyond this, but it won't provide good preformance or guarantee on a broke in engine that you won't be running sludge.
Best bet is to check condition of engine oil often, tranny oil occassionally, and if you are running in hot or dirt conditions change when it looks like soup.
