There's no way any metric bike can compete with a Harley. I spent a lot of good money trying to turn my Roadstar into a SG but it was just wasted money. Finally, while considering hardbags, a friend in a Harley mod shop pulled me on the side and warned me thatbineas wasting money investing into a metric bike. "if you want a Street Glide, invest the money but don't try to make a metric a Harley." those were harsh but realistic words.

I took my lost but found a great deal and found an awesome 2012 Street Glide. I'm now fully happy. This is a wise investment. I'm glad I stared with a few metric bikes so now, I have something to compare them to.

I'm in Charlotte, NC, once this damn 108 + heat wave subsides,I'm gonna take my new baby on a long ride up to the NC MOuntains.

God bless the USA and Harley Davidson. I now understand what the Harley lifestyle means!!!
Great choice. You're gonna dig that bike. Now you need to take some pics and start personalizing your SG...

I came from a suzuki blvd. 800cc Tried out a SG and worried quiet a bit about being able to handle the much heavier bike, but I could not hardly believe how much better it handles at slow parking lot speeds. I start grinnin as soon as my right leg starts over the bike. You're gonna love it. Welcome to the fourm and GONGRATS!!!!

Hadn't realized my attempt at humor was so incomprehensible. If I have to explain then it definitely isn't funny. Never mind.

ps - my location is shown. However I am originally from London England and locations thereabouts.

I did start having problems with my Roadstar. And I found it to be unreliable. It was often in the shop for repair. The final straw came last week at bike night. The battery drained and the bike wouldn't turn on. My buddy ( who's in his 50's, not on good health) had to push the roadie while I popped the clutch to get it running. The bike started and my buddy fell to the ground. I do a lot of solo rides to the NC mountains. What if that roadie crapped out on me in the middle of nowhere? It was time to put her to rest.

Hello guys, i am new to the forum. Not trying to highjack this thread just thought it seemed related. I also currently have a 02 Yamaha Roadstar and i am looking at a 93 Ultra Glide full dresser. I want to make the dresser into a street glide lookalike. I have questions. #1 i am not knocking the Yammie or the Ultra. I just want to know some truths. I hope IndyClassic chimes in here he said he had a Roadstar also. Will the Harley be as maintenance free. The Roadstar has needed nothing but tires. Will it be as dependable i do not enjoy working on bikes i enjoy riding them. Will the Ultras windshield cook me on a hot day.Or should i look for a Roadking I have ridden the Harley only a short distance i do seem to smile a lot on it. How do you guys that have ridden both the Yamaha and the Harley compare the ride and operating cost. I love the Harleys look ride and sound. What is the true expectancy of the Evos engine and transmissions life. I really love riding and respect your opinions. Thank you.
