After so many problems and frustrations with a modified 2005 Yamaha Roadstar, I've bitten the bullet and bought a 2012 Street Glide.
After a 1 hour demo ride on the SG, I quickly realized that my dream bike came true. There's a huge difference btwn a Harley and metric. All these years, I thought you guys were BS'ing me. There's no way any metric bike can compete with a Harley. I spent a lot of good money trying to turn my Roadstar into a SG but it was just wasted money. Finally, while considering hardbags, a friend in a Harley mod shop pulled me on the side and warned me thatbineas wasting money investing into a metric bike. "if you want a Street Glide, invest the money but don't try to make a metric a Harley." those were harsh but realistic words.
I took my lost but found a great deal and found an awesome 2012 Street Glide. I'm now fully happy. This is a wise investment. I'm glad I stared with a few metric bikes so now, I have something to compare them to.
I'm in Charlotte, NC, once this damn 108 + heat wave subsides,I'm gonna take my new baby on a long ride up to the NC MOuntains.
God bless the USA and Harley Davidson. I now understand what the Harley lifestyle means!!!
I did the same thing two years ago...yamaha Roadstar that belched gas on the engine and exhaust when you shut it off. Yamaha nor my dealer would do anything about it though they knew the problem existed...guess they haven't burned anybody up yet so they stick their head in the sand. Went to a Street Glide and couldn't be happier. I should've done it to start with and saved myself a considerable amount of money and frustration. Welcome!

It's not too late to order the HD air condition and have the shop install it...

Bury yourself into every topic good or bad on this forum and you will soon learn things about your bike to watch for, improve on and enjoy.......you cant beat the quality of these bikes the first time you crack open a cover youll see what I mean. Yes, there are a few components that will have thinking .....why? But inspite of them the love youll develop for the Brand will have you learning to do a lot of the work yourself......this forum will have you learning how to work thru, around these areas.........
