There is a bog thread on how to do it. Personally for the money and the 10 seconds it took me to plug it in its worth it. Didn't even have to remove outer fairing.
Nothing to it Dude. On my '11 RKC the passing lights from the factory got their power from the low beam headlight wire (yellow wire). You want to get off that. Look at the electrical section of your manual and the answer becomes obvious.
The hot wire providing power to the aux. switch (also referred to as the "spot" switch) that is next to the passing light switch is what you want to tap into. Before the aux switch, unaffected if that switch is on or off. The aux. hot wire is orange with a red stripe. Get on that one. It is already fused. Now the passing light switch will turn on the passing lamps no matter if the headlight is on hi or low, as long as your ignition switch is on.
Some states require the passing lamps to go off when your headlights are on hi beam, just like many cars and trucks; be aware of that.
For me, running all LED lights, all three lights blazing down the country roads at night is amazing. During the day, I run all three on bright for better safety.
Go ahead, you won't regret it. Again, check the elect. print in your manual, you will see what I am talking about. I could get to them all by pulling the headlight and just the bucket for a little extra room to work.
