I had the left bag come off at 65mph. It was loaded with gear and my wife's purse and we were far from home. Thank God I was able to reattach it for the rest of the trip. Over $700 for a new bag.
I bought the Brukus kit and have no worries at all now. Should be one of the first upgrades everyone with a bagger or dresser does.

Brukus doesn't have anything you can't get at the local hardware store for a lot less, and I like the **** idea. All you need is a clip and a **** screw, both very common and easy to get.

Mine came loose for the first time the other day. I had them properly secured (as in no operator error), but the stuff inside bounced around (and likely opened the spring clips) when we traveled over some rough roads and the bags became unlatched. Fortunately I have wrap around guards and the bags stayed with the bike. Bummer that you lost one on the roll. I like the hardware store bolt idea. I'm going to do that.

And what's the chance of that happening, the stuff inside bounced around and undoing two turn clips.I'll be taking bets.

I hear you and would probably say the same - about someone else. But, I'm pretty meticulous about my vehicles. I just finished a tire and exhaust change as well as a thorough re-torquing of fasteners getting it ready for a big trip. I triple check everything and I wasn't rushed. I hauled it out to Columbus (700 mi) on a trailer (1st leg of the trip was work related and I needed my van) and there was a lot of bouncing around. Also, the right bag doesn't seem to latch as aggressively as the left. Unloaded the bike and found it was loose and fasteners at the bottom. The pneumatic Genie-lift I use for work (also on the trailer) had pretty much shook itself apart into it's core components. Vibration can do some crazy stuff. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

That said, the nut/bolt approach would probably limit pilot error issues.
