Speaking of HD backrests....check out Bonemountain.com. They make different types of pockets for your passenger that fit over the HD backrest and zip closed. Great product, my wife loves it. There is a simple large pocket, or you can get one with multiple pockets and a water bottle holder.
Not affiliated in any way, just passing on a good find.
After riding my Ultra for so many years with a backrest, I hate riding my other bikes without a backrest.
Short trips aren't a big problem but I won't take a trip on anything that doesn't have a backrest.
OK then, the adjustable it will be. The only mods I will ever do involve riding comfort so I might as well do it right.
" Bonemountain.com. They make different types of pockets for your passenger " That's THE MOST IMPORTANT consideration! Especially since I enjoy my passenger being there! also I have developed an issue in my lower back (old age) and I think shifting positions and taking the strain off will help. Thanks
(IF) I have the dealer put it on, what's the labor time for that? I would guess it's an hour.

Reason: added ? about labor
Where are you at in MD? For the cost of an hour of dealer labor, if you're close enough I'll ride up and help you do it!
Really though, if you can operate a couple of small hand tools (phillips screwdriver, socket wrench, maybe a zip tie or two), you should have no problem doing this yourself.
Think it took me between 30-45 minutes to install mine myself, and that's because my wife says I'm a little OCD and I cleaned everything when I had the seat off.

Thanks for the offer and installation information. I'm actually fairly mechanical, but for 30 minutes labor, I'd consider letting them do it. If it's an hour or more book time I'll do it myself. With the savings I can buy a service manual.
