I have a 2014 ultra limited and recently lost my passenger (human backrest lol).
So I'm in the market for a backrest but not sure where to start. The ones I have seen all appear to be short and not very effective. I am 6'2" and mostly upper body.
Depends on the seat you have. I have a mustang touring seat which does not have an through opening between the driver and the passenger. I use pn 79559. If you do have an opening then you'd probably want the adjustable mustang backrest pn 79613.
I have the HD adjustable backrest with the lever under the mid frame. I love it but in case you are thinking of moving to the Hammock anytime, it is not compatible with that seat. The hammock has its own backrest.
The model I have is adjustable in height as well as front to back positions. I'm 6-0 and have it set to its lowest position.

Did you buy it through HD ?
It looks pretty costly through HD.
Not sure how I would refer to the other ones I was looking at. They have a cable so that I could adjust while riding ?
The 79559 has a set screw in the seat to adjust height and then a thumb screw to adjust the pad angle. The other one has a bracket that attaches to the bike under the seat. Both are manual adjustments.
The HD adjustable backrest, while a bit more expensive, does allow remote adjustment that I believe can be done while riding.
