Mustang is the best IMHO! I use it with my sundowner.
Can't use it on the Corbin though, wish there was some way to make
a Mustang backrest fit a Corbin seat!

There is no doubt that Mustang has a great reputation.

With that said though I think I would prefer the added flexibility of the HD adjustable mount so that I can adjust as I am riding.

Now I just have to try and figure out the difference among the many backrest pads that I see on the HD web site. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

I REALLY like the HD adjustable I put on the Sundowner seat on my SG. I make 'on the fly' adjustments and it solved my lower back cramps. I actually found another thread here somewhere that suggested adding a nut on each side at the front of the mount between the mount and the fender. It allows more rear movement of the backrest.

I'm 5'11" and use the lowest position of the height adjustment. After a ride I also push the backrest all the way back to take the pressure off the front of the slit opening. Here are the pics of the nut's I installed. I needed longer bolts to do this:

There are only 5 pads available for the adjustable backrest. Pick the one that matches your seat the best? I used the smooth style one. You will find the backrest a little wobbly but I find it actually helps position it better on your back.

I suppose your recent backrest gave you more support in the upper back area.I have the HD manual adjust one.I am 6'2" and have it in the lowest position with two higher positions to go if needed.Has worked great for 150-200 mile rides between stops.

You might also check one out called the "Utopia" backrest. It has a rectangular pad (larger than Mustang's or HD's) and a map pocket attached to the back of it...
