Getting the right seat can be difficult. Many will sing the praises of this seat or that mod, and others will try it only to find it sucks. Probably why there are always seats for sale in the classifieds. The good news is that you can usually get most of your money back (less shipping) when you sell it.
The only real way to know if a seat will work for you is to ride it on back to back all day rides. If you still feel like getting on the bike again on the third day, then you've got a keeper.
I'm a big guy as well, and I think I tried at least 5 or 6 seats on my Ultras before I got the Russell, I will never have another bike without one.
I was at my local Dealer last Saturday. We got talking seats and "HE BLEW SMOKE UP MY ****" that this seat was "THE CATS ***" Oh well thats why I got a used one....
Just take it back or sell it.
HD Sundowner here and it's ok, not fantastic, but it will suffice.
I don't think any of them are all that great.
I've had a C & C and a MCC modified RG seat too FWIW.
I liked the C & C looks wise, but it's a hard-er seat.
It sits you back quite a bit as I said before.
Was not impressed with the MCC mod.
For the $$$, for me anyway the Sundowner is the best deal going.
Tallboy might be the best for you.
I bought a Roadsofa direct from Saddlemen. It was ok for me, but it was a Roadsore for my GF. I ended up spending $400 having the seat re-shaped and all the gel pads replaced.
The seat shop (Bitchin Stichin) do wonders re-doing the seat. Once they took off the cover I could see instantly why the seat hurt.
Put Mustang on my last three bikes and lots of miles. Really happy with them. Heard the same about the saddleman from another rider that is tall like me. Liked the look but not found of hard seats!
I ordered a new Road Sofa a few years ago, I got it on a Thursday, left on Friday for a trip and returned home Sunday evening.
I called Saddleman on Monday morning and told them it just wasn't the seat for me. They told me they had a three day trial period and they wouldn't hold the weekend against me. They didn't hesitate to give me a return order number. I shipped the seat back for a full refund after using it for a weekend. All I was out was the shipping.
Even though I didn't like the seat, I was very happy with the way they treated me.
Just take it back or sell it.

I had a Sundowner Solo with the matching rear for my 06 RoadKing and loved that seat. So much that I took it off when I traded it for my current 08 RoadGlide. Bad news was that the new for 08, 6 gallon tank meant that the seat wouldn't fit. I have been thinking of the MCC seat for my stocker, which has worked for me..........so far
