Search has loads of threads on cam choices

I'm going SE 204 in the fall. I had them in my Fat boy and have seen some very good Dyno charts of them in 103s

204's in the 103 are a good combo, still have real good low end torque, 85hp /102tq with the TTS tuner.

Do 204 cams come in at the same place the 255 cams come in torque wise?

how do these two cams compare in the 103? Maybe I will go 204?

204's are a favorite especially in the 96. One that works well in the 103 is the HQ's 500.

Cam decisions are subjective to riding style and weight, one up/two up, any of the listed cams are good/great. Woods, T-Mann, Andrews all have cams ready for basic stock upgrades, where you want more power is based on compression and intake valve closing, the earlier closing will help with low engine speed power while later closing will keep you making power further up the rpm's. Good low speed cams are the S/E 255 and Andrews 48H, or the 204. More power after 2800 rpm's and cams like Andrews 54H, new 57H, Woods 555, 777 and T-Mann torqster will make your bike pull longer and with good tune will not beat your gas mileage.

HD's 254E cam seems to be a good cam for one to just drop in and smile. It gets you a little more overrev than the 255.

Your bike has automatic compression releases from the factory so no need to worry about installing those if you go with something that yields a little more ccp.

Any aftermarket cam (without going monster) will net improved results compared to the stocker; not wanting to wait for the 254E's to arrive I bought a set of 259E's then I bought a set of HD ACR heads. That combo only gives me 9.0 to 1 compression with the stock pistons but my bike still has a lot more pull off the bottom than the stock cams provided. I'm no stranger to tuning my own bike so I bumped my timing to make up for the loss of compression but as I said, almost anything is better than the stock cams so don't listen to everyone's rant about losing too much off the bottom with this cam or another. Pick one your tuner uses and is familar with and enjoy.

As noted, first determine where you want that extra power. Also, start planning for how/who you'll have do the tuning and discuss with them to get their recommendations.
